- Murah Soares
Dancer, choreographer, cultural event manager and dance teacher. Murah Soares was born in São Paulo, Brazil, and spent a large part of his childhood in Salvador da Bahia. He studied classical ballet and modern dance, as well as afro brazilian dance. He was member of various dance groups all over Brazil, and established himself at various academies in São Paulo as a teacher for “Brazilian-Afro-Dance”. When we came to Europe beginning of the 1990's
he soon was celebrated as one of the greatest talents for Ethno-Modern-Dance.
Since 1991 Murah Soares has worked in various projects together with Brazilian master percussionist Dudu Tucci, as well with Parana Bonfim and Leila el-Jarad. Murah Soares has achieved a name as a choreographer and as a teacher is very much in demand.
One of his most important projects is Afoxé Loni which he created together with Dudu Tucci and Krista Zeissig. The bloco of more than 100 artists heads the procession of the Carnival of Culture in Berlin and has achieved international status with the stage programme on big festivals and events.
Murah Soares is also an excellent teacher: in his dance lessons he concentrates on improving body awareness and understanding of the cultural history and music of Brazil.
